Yi Yang is an architectural designer born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He completed both his Master’s Degree and Bachelor’s Degree of Architecture (RIBA Part I & II/ LAM Part I & II) in University of Malaya.
Yi Yang’s passion lies among the various aspects of art and design creation in architecture world. His works focus between the tangible reality of built environment and the fictional realm of space-crafting. Good architecture to him, has always had a story to tell, a role to play, an experience to share. Considering architectural design as a transdisciplinary practice, Yi Yang always seeks to create from the possibilities of the context, and sometimes beyond it.
In the belief that architecture is a constant progress rather than a mere product, Yi Yang has actively engaged in variety of competitions, projects, and events- constantly experimenting and polishing his design approaches and skills. His architectural projects spanned across various scales: from urbanism, place-making, sustainability; to heritage conservation, community building, single dwelling; and sometimes speculative or provocative schemes. Over the last 5 years, his works earned him multiple awards and competition prizes.
Presently based in Malaysia, Yi Yang designs projects from all around the world, and continually to strive for his vision in architecture.
